Frequently Asked Questions

Do you charge for war memorial quotations?

There may be a charge for reports on war memorials dependant on the quantity of work required in preparing them, and the distance travelled to the site.

Any reports prepared by The Stone Shop remain the property of the company, and may not be sent to other stonemasons.

How long do we have to wait for our war memorial to be cleaned?

We understand that all councils would like their war memorials cleaned in time for Armtistice Day or Remembrance Sunday.

We would advise councils to place a cleaning order with us as early in the year as possible to enable us to plan our programme chronologically.  However, the cleaning will not normally be done until between August and the end of October - to ensure that the memorial looks at it's best when commemorative services take place.

Are you qualified to deal with these historic monuments?

We are considered to be one of the foremost authorities in Britain when it comes to the care and maintenance of war memorials.  We understand fully, the significance of them, and we take absolute care when undertaking work.

We have worked for the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, and we were founder members of the Friends of War Memorials (now known as the War Memorial Trust).
